The
Turkey Creek Schnauzer
Mission

Our mission is to raise healthy and beautiful puppies with excellent temperaments.  We want each Turkey Creek Schnauzer family to be as thrilled with their new puppy as we are with our schnauzers.

In the first 8 weeks, we are blessed to be able to give our puppies the foundation they will need to become confident and happy schnauzers when they join your family.

OUR

SCHNAUZER

STORY

Our journey began while searching for the perfect non-shedding puppy for our family.  Our top priority was a healthy puppy with a good temperament who would fit in well with our active family.  We quickly realized that there wasn't much variety of color in many of the non-shedding breeds.

We wanted something that wasn't so vanilla...something different than what everyone else had! In our research, we found that there were a few breeders selecting for high quality, healthy, non-standard schnauzer colors, and we were sold.

After much thought and prayer, we decided to make a plan to offer these awesome little dogs to other families who might also be looking for the same things we were.

We have added to our schnauzer family a little at a time, being extremely selective in all aspects we value.  Health, temperament, coat quality, and of course, the unique colors that we love!

The
First 8 Weeks

We raise the puppies in our home.   They are exposed to new scents and experiences daily and are familiar with the noises and energy that come with the hustle and bustle of the daily life of a busy family !  Your puppy will come to you with plenty of life experience and ready to learn what is expected in their new homes.

Starting at 3-4 weeks of age, a puppy's instinct is to leave their nest to relieve themselves.  We make sure that there is a litter pan available for them as soon as they have the desire to keep their nest clean.   Usually, in a matter of a couple of weeks, our puppies are using the litter pan exclusively.  This makes potty training in their new homes an easy transition.  Many families continue using the litter pan for a while, desiring for their puppies to mature before being expected to potty outside full time.  You can also begin the transition to an outside potty area immediately if you choose.

We are firm believers in crate training for happy and healthy puppies and families.  It's important for puppies to have a space where they feel safe and comfortable, their den.  We begin to familiarize puppies with both a travel carrier and a standard crate from an early age.   When your puppy comes home, they will be familiar with a crate and will have been sleeping in their crate with their litter mates through the night. They may cry for a night or two as they acclimate to their new environment, but rest assured they will soon settle in to their new den and their new home.
